Jakobsweg • Via Romea #5 • @1MEMO 20260115

Walking two pilgrimage routes at once : both the St James Way (Jakobsweg, Camino de Santiago) and the Via Romea Germanica pilgrimage routes follow this little road we walked between Igls-Innsbruck and Patsch. The roads starts as Fernkreuzweg in Igls , and continues in the 2nd scene as Sportplatzweg with that little hill on the right, the Ameisbichl (Ant hill), at the border of the municipality of Patsch. Next, in the last scene, at the Pfaffenbichl (Priests hill) here on the left, a side road is taken back to Igls via Rosengarten.

Notes

Update 20260116 : added info on comparison of the Brenner – Innsbruck route of the St James Way and Via Romea Germanica

St James Way (Jacobsweg): This road between Igls and Patsch is part of the Brenner – Innsbruck stage of the East Tyrol route in the network of St James Ways in Austria and Italia , the ‘Jakobsweg Osttirol’ .
In the old town of Innsbruck at the Golden Roof (Goldenes Dachl) this East Tyrol route merges with the main ‘Jacobsweg Tirol’ (East to West) .

That Brenner – Innsbruck route of the St James Way follows the same route as the Via Romea Germanica, I found checking maps.
I checked in more detail various maps of the stages I walked the past decades : Innsbruck Altstadt (Goldenes Dach , Inn river) via Maria-Theresien-Straße • Viller Steig between Vill and Igls •
Habichtstraße and Fernkreuzweg in Igls towards Patsch • the path below the road between Patsch towards St Peter / Mühltal …
