Individualism was the practical philosophy those days in 1974 when I handmade these spice pots by pinching white clay. A candle (with groove) helped finish the form – no potter’s wheel was used.
Firing was outsourced. The unglazed pots were finished with a polyurethane coating and handwritten with Edding markers.

You cannot really translate poetry.
The crux here, is that one dutch word ‘lellebellen’ … and, the crux I cannot translate.
‘Lellebellen’ is dutch plural of the word ‘lellebel’ which generally denotes an indecent or sloppy woman – with a light-hearted connotation.
The earring is called ‘oorbel’ in dutch (which literally translates to earbell), and the earlobe is ‘oorlel’ or short ‘lel’ in dutch.
Thus ‘Lellebel’ is perfect old-style dutch grammar for ‘lelbel’ (modern style grammar is lellenbel), and a funny association : reading ‘lellebel’ as ‘oorbel’ – earring.
Another association I personally also have, is with the french words l’elle belle … ‘pretty she’ – that’s how the film title came about .. LelleBelle
