akaKURDISTAN

The site akaKURDISTAN …a borderless space… created by the American documentary photographer Susan Meiselas — https://www.akakurdistan.com (domain registered in 1997) — is probably the first interactive web documentary project, and had a lasting impact on me ever since I came across the site shortly after my first encounter with Susan Meiselas April 2006 at the symposium Artists’ Strategies, Photography and Archives in Leiden (Holland). First inspiration for this Miracles documentary web work in progress…

Opening Weekend of the Photobook 2009

① memo 20190203 ~ Opening Weekend of the Photobook 2009 – Opening by Tineke de Ruiter († 2018) of the Weekend of the Photobook ten years ago , Saturday 7 February 2009 , organised by the Leiden University Master Photographic Studies , the website PhotoQ, Kunstenaars en Co, and the Nederlands Fotomuseum – a full weekend at two nearby locations, the SKVR BeeldFabriek (art center) and the Nederlands Fotomuseum in Rotterdam.
I vividly remember Tineke’s teaching, the workshop – wearing white cotton gloves handling delicate old photographs. Thank you Tineke.
