① memo 20181220 ~ Glass Angel ~ Glass angel figurine in our Christmas tree – Holland.
First time, today, I tried a Sony SEL 18-105mm F/4.0 G OSS powerzoom ‘APC’ lens on my full frame Sony A7 Mark III camera, and after a lot of set-up testing , tried this nice shot tonight.
I have been working with very nice full frame prime lenses – the Sony 55mm F/1.8 Zeiss on this camera , and the Sony 28mm F/2.0 on the A7SII, but I felt this relatively light zoom ‘crop’ lens will be more versatile for my report work.
① memo 20180411 ~ Sony A7 III Sensor Problem Blinking Line ~ [ See April 16th update below* ] The blinking line is showing bottom line left (below the 8 of the date 20180411) – the same spot reported by others (see below). This is private video test footage in which I first found that ‘blinking line’. A clip shot the first day trying the camera, after I bought it March 12, 2018. The blinking line shows up , when full frame filming with my Sony A7 III ( ILCE-7M3 ). Apparently a sensor glitch, that disappears and later returns. I detected this when youtube user ‘biscuitsalive’ reported this March 21 here https://youtu.be/XUx9Q6Tev9g . I did not notice this problem before , because I used the camera mostly in ‘crop’ mode. That user reported a fix the same day (changing the camera date) that was reported no permanent fix … He informed Sony UK. No answer yet. I reported in his comments. I still have that problem (did not try that date reset method). I informed Sony NL today , via my camera dealer. It seems this affected a lot of people in different countries. Waiting for a ? firmware fix , or a new camera when a hopefully ‘clean’ batch arrives in Holland.
*Sony Dealer-support update [ April 16 , 2018 update via my dutch retailer from Sony Dealer support] .
** A firmware update is coming up for this , in the coming weeks. This solves the problem. **
